Noord–Noordwest is a visual research into the man-made landscape created on the island of Schouwen-Duiveland, my birth place. After the flood disaster of 1953 they decided that this could never happen again. The solution: a totally man-made landscape, designed to control the tides. In Noord–Noordwest I show how the landscape transforms into concrete islands where the only natural thing is the sound of sea pounding against the dikes. This project resulted into a 8x10” book with 38 color pictures.
